International No diet Day
The International No Diet Day (INDD)-founded in 1992- is an annual celebration of body acceptance and body shape diversity. This day is also dedicated to promoting a healthy life style and raise awareness of the dangers and futility of dieting. International No Diet Day is observed on May 6, and its symbol is a light blue ribbon.
More and more I am meeting women who have dieted for most of their lives and eventually come to a point where weight loss becomes really difficult as they have really messed up their metabolism through a life time of dieting.
Say “No” to skipping meals, bingeing on large quantities of food, following the latest fad diet at the expense of your hunger levels and metabolism. Say “Yes” to eating regular meals of the healthy foods you enjoy, taking every opportunity to move your body and making the most of the life and body you have been given.
On this International No Diet Day it is a chance not only to embrace and celebrate body shape diversity but to focus on the great things your body enables you to do. This day reminds up to treat your body as a temple, whatever shape it is.
Instead of focusing on the scales and counting calories maybe it’s time to start enjoying your food and taking opportunities to move your body in ways that you enjoy rather than focusing on the calories you may be burning.
You may be surprised at the different head space you create for yourself when you take the pressure to be “perfect” away.
Until you make peace with who you are, you’ll never be content with what you have. Doris Mortman.
Enjoy the difference!
